I'll be calling for Maria (no matter what)
lyrics and music by paulinho garcia © Jazzmin Music (ASCAP)
If things here turn out to be so bad
I'll be calling for Maria
If things here turn out to be so sad
I'll be calling for Maria
Maria makes me feel so glad
and safe in her compania
in this world of alegria, hope and justice for us all
but if things turn out to be
green, free as once I long to see
I'll be calling for Maria
to enjoy, to share the dream with me
I'll be calling for Maria
Maria makes me feel so glad
and safe in her compania
in this world of alegria, hope and justice
I know there's no better place
where I would rather stay
I pray, God bless the USA

Do you remember me?
lyrics and music by paulinho garcia © Jazzmin Music (ASCAP)
do you remember me?
It has been now so many years
it has been now so many smiles and tears
how could I forget
the short but wonderful time
by destiny made
designed to bring to my life love happiness and cheers
you're well I suppose
I see that life has not changed you a bit
you're still lovely, desirable
that's undeniable,
I must admit
then a tender kiss
brought me memories of way back when
life was so very nice,
I still love you.

God bless Brazil
September 7, 1822
After receiving orders from the Portuguese parliament limiting his powers in Brazil, Dom Pedro I declared Brazil’s independence near the Ipiranga River in São Paulo.
Tearing the Portuguese blue and white insignia from his uniform, Pedro drew his sword, and swore: "By my blood, by my honor, and by God: I will make Brazil free." Their motto, he said, would be Independência ou Morte, Independence or Death! This statement is known as the Grito do Ipiranga.
God bless USA
